This innovative tool streamlines the onboarding process by allowing developers to translate natural language queries into executable HTML and JavaScript code, instantly generating interactive map visualizations. The assistant addresses common developer challenges such as creating walking routes or displaying circles around points, providing both the code and explanatory descriptions.
Built on Amazon Bedrock, the solution leverages several AWS services, including foundation models (FMs) from leading AI companies, Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Amazon Bedrock Guardrails for content filtering, and Amazon DynamoDB for conversation management. This architecture ensures scalability, security, and a seamless user experience. The system incorporates a RAG workflow, retrieving relevant information from HERE Maps API documentation to ensure accuracy and up-to-date code suggestions, rather than relying solely on potentially outdated LLM training data.
The coding assistant is designed to be highly responsive, with an overall latency of approximately 23.5 seconds and a time to first token of under 8 seconds, thanks to response streaming. Rigorous prompt engineering techniques, including task breakdown, few-shot learning, and code template integration, were employed to optimize code generation accuracy, achieving an impressive 87.5% accuracy rate in testing. Security is prioritized through Amazon Bedrock Guardrails, filtering out-of-scope or harmful queries. While the current evaluation is manual, future improvements may include automated evaluation and prompt chaining with self-correction feedback. This coding assistant represents a significant advancement in developer tools, offering a faster, more efficient, and user-friendly way to interact with HERE's mapping services.
